Lorna Hunter

I am a self-taught artist working in acrylic on board, building up layers to gain the tone and atmosphere. I enjoy painting sea/landscapes and quirky still life studies, usually with a nautical influence. Having worked in a marine environment my focus over recent years has been a collection of paintings “Points of the Compass – A sense of Place and Isolation”, which concentrated on some of Scotland’s wonderful marine locations, through either still life studies or seascapes.

In 2024 I was Artist in Residence at The Crinan Hotel, a unique opportunity offered by owner and artist Frances Macdonald and son, artist Ross Ryan. In the summer of 2025, I returned to Crinan to hold a Solo Show.

I have sold work in Edinburgh, Dunkeld, Pittenweem, Aberfeldy and Crinan. I have also won awards for my work at my local Art Club in Edinburgh.
