Maggie Wallace

I qualified at DJCA in 1971 in Graphic Design and have worked in various related fields – Art Education in Glasgow and Ipswich, Exhibition Design and publicity at Hunterian Museum Glasgow and Science Museum London, free-lance illustration and private commissions.

Retiring to my home town of Perth in 2018, I abandoned my former highly designed style of artwork and returned to painting on a larger, looser scale – mainly in acrylics, oils.

I like to depict the ‘close up’ and to capture a less conventional view of subject matter be it from still life – fruit, flowers etc or landscape. My aim – using details from my own sketches and photographs, is to combine strong qualities of light and colour in a considered composition to create an impactful and dramatic image.
