Inspired by the beauty and variety of sea and sky, the forms of land, the play of light and colours in Scotland’s coasts and landscapes, Rowena explores the ways light, water, skies and landscape alter with the tide, time of day, the season and mood of weather.

She’s drawn to places that capture the continuity of human relationships with place. Her paintings reflect her love of coastal villages and the drama of the Scottish landscape, captured on site in initial drawings with fluidity and empathy. Her finished paintings express her love of Scotland.
